The answer is 3.

First peter cuts off two 45 cm lengths.
Then that leaves (240-45-45) cm length left... ie 150 cm.
Then he cuts of as many 40cm lengths as possible.
So, we divide the remaining length by 40.

Therefore,
150/40= 3

But 30 cm is leftover.... which is less than 40.. so it is not considered.

Hope the answer helps you..
