A piece of wire is cut into five equal parts. these parts are connected in parallel. if the equivalent resistance of the combination is R' , then find the ratio R/R' (where R is the resistance of an individual wire).

Answer:

let the resistance of the original wire be =r

Then the resistance of individual part of the wire will be =R=r/5

Now if these five resistance are connected in parallel then R'=R/5 or r/25

Hence R/R'=5
