As per the formula,

R=PL/A

R-resistance

P-resistivity

L - length

A- area

Ashford the question the new length is double its original length

Hence the area becomes half its original area

hence the new formula for resistance will be

R'=p2L/A/2

R'=4pL/A

R'=4R

I hope this helps
