the formula for calculating resistance is as follows:

resistance (R)= resistivity (r) x length (l) R=rL/a

the new length of the the new wire is three times the old one hence = 3 l

resistance of new wire= R= r3l/a

compare the two resistance:

rL/a and r3l/a

if rL/a=100%

then r3l/a=100 × 3rl x a =. 300%
