a piece of wood of mass 150 g has a volume of 200 cm-3. find teh density of wood in cgs unit and si unit

Given :  Mass of wood = 150 g

             Volume of wood = 200 cm³

Formula to be used :  \sf{ Density = {\dfrac{Mass}{Volume}} }

  • Density of wood = \sf{ {\dfrac{150}{200}} } g cm⁻³

                                    = 0.75 g cm⁻³

In SI System -

  • Mass is measured in kilograms (kg)
  • Length is measured in meter (m)

⇒ 0.75 g cm⁻³ = \sf{ {\dfrac{ 0.75 \times (100)^3 }{ 1000 }} } kg m⁻³

                        = 750 kg m⁻³

Hence,

Density in CGS System = 0.75 g cm⁻³

Density in SI System = 750 g cm⁻³

  • 1 g = \sf{ {\dfrac{1}{1000}} } kg
  • 1 cm = \sf{ {\dfrac{1}{100}} } m
