Let the no. of one rupee coin = X
also, no of fifty paise coins = 3X(1/2)
Total No. of coin in piggy bank = 45

Acc to question
X +(1/2 )3X = 45
5X = 90
X = 90/5
X = 18

No of One rupee coin is 18
and no. of 50 paise coins 18×3 = 54

hope it helps

let the no. of one rupee coins be x
 and no. of fifty paise coins be 3x ( since y = 3x )

sum of coins ⇒x+(1/2)3x = 45
                       ⇒ x = 18

therefore y ⇒3(18)=54

therefore there are 18 one rupee coins and 54 fifty paise coins
