a pile of 500 sheets of paper has a mass of 2kg. The pile is 300mm long, 200mm wide, and 500mm thick. Calculate: 1) The mass of one square meter of paper. 2) The density of the paper.

  • Thickness of one sheet = Total thickness of pile/ number of sheets

= 500 mm/500 = 1 mm

  • Mass of one sheet = mass of pile / number of sheets

= 2kg/500 = 2000g/500 =4 g (1 kg = 1000 g)

  • Volume of the pile = length x width x height

300mm x 200mm x 500mm
