Here we are given that a pile of books is 54.4 cm high

Each book has a thickness of  3.2 cm

We have to find the number of books in the pile

So, to find the number of books in the pile we will have to divide the height of the pile by the thickness of one book.

Number of books in the pile = \frac{54.4}{3.2}

                                               = 17

So, there will be 17 books in the pile
