Answer :
A pin-hole camera forms an impression and not an optical image because the size of the image formed depends on the distance between the screen and the pin-hole. If the the distance between the pinhole and the screen is reduced then the size of the image will decrease and the image will become clearer and brighter as the light gets concentrated over the small area but if the distance between the screen and the pinhole is increased then the size of the image will also increase and the image will be blurred and less bright because the light spreads over a larger area. A pin-hole camera works on the principle of rectilinear propagation of light.
More Information :
The nature of the image formed on the pin-hole camera is real and inverted.
A pinhole camera works on the principle of rectilinear propagation of light.
Rectilinear propagation of light :-
Light travels in straight lines as long as it is travelling in the same medium.
Some applications of rectilinear propagation of light :-
- Shadow
- Day and night
- Eclipses
- Pin-hole camera
Light can pass or transmit through solid, liquid and gases.
