sodium salt- sodium acetate (CH3COONa)

Gas-CO2

Testing of gas produced-

pass the gas through lime water the lime water turns to milky. This symbolises that the gas evolved  is CO2. Passing more CO2 through lime water turns it into a colourless solution.

The brisk effervescene also test the presence of CO2 gas.
