Given : in a pineapple jam, water is added to 6 kg of pineapple and 9 kg of sugar until the total weight of the mixture is 16 2/3 kg

To Find : ratio of weight in which sugar and water are mixed with  pineapple

Solution:

Pineapple  - 6kg

Sugar  - 9 kg

Water added - W kg

Total Weight = 16 2/3 kg

= 50/3 kg

=> 6 + 9 + W = 50/3

=> W = 50/3 - 15

=> W = (50 - 45)/3

=> W = 5/3  kg

5/3 kg Water added

Sugar = 9 kg

Sugar : Water :: 9 : 5/3

=> Sugar : Water :: 27 : 5

27/5 is the Ratio of Weight in which Sugar and Water are mixed

Sugar + water = 9 + 5/3  = 32/3 kg

Pineapple = 6 kg

(sugar + water) : Pineapple = 32/3 : 6

= 32 : 18

= 16 : 9

16/9  is the Ratio   of weight in which sugar and water are mixed with pineapple
