Capacity of tank = 80 litres

1/4 th of 80 = 1 / 4 × 80

= 20 litres

Now the pipe takes 1 hr to empty litres

For 20 litres it would take = 20 / 5 = 4hr

So the answer is 4hrs.

Hope it helps you :-)

The pipe will take 4 hours to empty \dfrac{1}{4}th of the tank of capacity 80 litres.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given, the capacity of the tank = 80 litres

Then, \dfrac{1}{4}th of the tank

= \dfrac{1}{4} of 80 litres

= \dfrac{1}{4} × 80 litres

= 20 litres

Now, a pipe can empty a tank by 5 litres water per hour.

∴ to empty 1 litre water, the tank will take \dfrac{1}{5} hour

∴ to empty 20 litres water, the tank will take 20 × \dfrac{1}{5} hours = 4 hours
