See it takes 6hrs to fill the cistern so in 1hr 1/6th of the cistern gets filled.Next we see that due to leak the cistern gets filled in 7hrs i.e in 1 hr 1/7 th of the cistern is filled.

So in how many hrs will it get empty when it is filled??

That is 1/6(amt filled without leak)-1/7(amt filled with leak)

So 1/6-1/7=1/42=42hrs

Hope it helps☺
