A pipe can fill the tank in 20 min and another pipe can fill the tank in 30 min. After returning, a man noticed that the tank did not fill due to leakage in bottom. If he fixes the leakage than the tank was filled in 3 minutes. In how much time that leakage will emptied the tank?

Answer:

48 Mins ( additional information of question that man return after 12 mins)

Step-by-step explanation:

A pipe can fill the tank in 20 min

pipe can fill tank in 1 min = 1/20

another pipe can fill the tank in 30 min.

another pipe can fill tank in 1 min = 1/30

Both pipe together can fill tank in 1 min = 1/20 + 1/30

= 1/12

Both pipe fill the tank in 12 mins

After fixing leakage tank was filled in 3 mins

so 1/4 more tank filled

earlier 3/4 tank filled   but in how many minute data is missing

let say man return after 10 mins

tank filled in 10 mins

10( 1/12 - 1/L)  = 3/4

=> 40( L -12) = 36L

=> 4L = 40*12

=> L = 120

Tank will be emptied in 120 mins

let say man return after 15 mins

tank filled in 15 mins

15( 1/12 - 1/L)  = 3/4

=> 60( L -12) = 36L

=> 24L = 60*12

=> L = 30

Tank will be emptied in 30 mins

let say man return after 12 mins

tank filled in 15 mins

12( 1/12 - 1/L)  = 3/4

=> 48( L -12) = 36L

=> 12L = 48*12

=> L = 48

Tank will be emptied in 48 mins
