A pipe of internal diameter 21 cm is connected to a cylindrical tank which is 12 m diameter & 2 m deep. If water flows is the pipe at the rate of 6 km/hr, find the time taken for filling the tank.

Volume of tank = π 600×600×200 cm^3

Volume of water flowing in 1 second in the tank =

(6×100000/3600)×π(21/2)×(21/2) cm^3

Let time taken to fill the tank = t

Then (6×100000/3600)×π×(21/2)×(21/2)×t =

π×600×600×200

t = 160/49 hr

= 3 hr about 16 minute Ans
