A pizza weighs 1.8 kg. It is cut into two parts so that the first part is 25% heavier than the second part. Find the weight of each part.​

weight of the pizza = 1.8 kg = 1.8*1000 g = 1800 g

let the weights of the 2 parts after cutting be x and y

=> x + y = 1800g  --------------- (1)

given that x = y + (25% of y)

=> x = y + (25y/100)

=> x = y + (y/4)

=> x = 5y/4

substitute the x value in (1)

=> (5y/4) + y = 1800

=> (5y+4y)/4 = 1800

=> 9y = 4 * 1800

=> y = 4 * 200

=> y = 800

again (1) with y value ,

x + 800 = 1800

=> x = 1800 - 800 = 1000

=> weight of the heavier part is 1000g

and the weight of the other part is 800g
