Subject: The nuisance of insensitive use of loudspeakers.

Sir,

Our freedom of religion is guaranteed by the Constitution of India. However this freedom must not be misused. Misuse of any fundamental right is destructive to the society. We also have fundamental duties too. We cannot live in isolation. We are social beings and live in communities. So it is important to be careful in the exercising of our freedom. We must think whether our actions are causing inconveniences to other people.

There is a particular place of worship in my locality which uses loudspeaker to play Hindi movie songs all night. This disturb the sleep of the public. It interfere with the students studying for exams or their study hours. The irresponsible use of loudspeaker will adversely affect their performance in exams and their future career.

This insensitive use of loudspeaker is a public disturbance and a major cause of noice pollution. Noise pollution is known to cause headache, irritation, and other health problems. We must have consideration for the elderly people, the sick, children and infants who need to rest and sleep properly.

The Supreme Court has banned the unauthorised use of loudspeakers. Therefore, I feel that the use of loudspeakers in residential areas should be strictly banned and defaulters severely penalised.

Yours sincerely,

S.M. KUMAR
