That place is CHAURI CHAURA in Uttar Pradesh.

This movement was called off in 1922.

It was called off because some policemen opened fire on crowd with a widespread violence. As a result of this, people burnt the police station and policemen in it.

Seeing the movement becoming violent, Gandhiji decided to call off it.
