(a) Planaria, insects, octopus and vertebrates all have eyes. Can we group eyes of these animals together to establish a common 'evolutionary origin? Justify your answer.; (b) "Birds have evolved from reptiles". State evidence to prove the statement.(Delhi - 2015)

No, we cannot group them together.

These organisms have different features and different adaptation owing to their environmental conditions. Moreover they belong to different phyla. So they cannot be grouped together.

Birds are evolved from reptiles. For example take the case of archaeopteryx. It had feathered wings, clawed paws, toothed beak and it lacked pneumatic bones. It is now extinct but it is considered as a missing link between reptiles and birds and it provides the evidences for ' birds evolved from reptiles '.
