Given : A plane is flying at 10,000 feet.

The plane climbs 17,000 feet to approach cruising altitude.

After a few minutes at this new altitude, the plane hits turbulence and descends 24,930 feet.

To Find :  Express each increase or decrease in altitude as an integer

operation, and determine the new altitude of the plane.

Solution:

A plane is flying at 10,000 feet.

Height =  10,000

The plane climbs 17,000 feet to approach cruising altitude.

Increase  = 17000

altitude = 10000 + 17000  = 27000 feet

, the plane hits turbulence and descends 24,930 feet.

Decrease = 24390    or change = -24390

Final altitude = 27000 - 24390

= 2610   feet

the new altitude of the plane. = 2610
