Answer:

8900 m (8.9 km)

Explanation:

Given -

Plane flying height above sea level = 8000 m

Submarine floating below sea level = 900 m

To find -

The vertical distance between Plane and Submarine (If plane is exactly above the submarine)

Solution -

Total vertical distance = Plane flying above sea level + Submarine floating below sea level

= 8000 m + 900 m

= 8900 m

Hence vertical distance between plane and submarine = 8900 m (8.9 km)

hope it helps.

Explanation:

A plane is at the distance of 8000 metres. Suppose that you are in that aeroplane. Now, what is a sea level?

If you have seen, the exact level where the sea is situated is called the sea level.

So, you are 8000 metres above the sea.

A submarine is an underwater transport. So, it is 900 metres below the water.

Now, the question is how to calculate the distance?

What you need to see :- The Cartesian Plane.

The more we move down, distance is negative.

Now, we need to calculate the distance between them. So, subtraction is followed.

8000 - ( - 900)

= 8000 + 900

= 8900 metres is the required distance between them .
