A plane takes 2 hours and 45 minutes (2.75 hours) to cover a distance between two airports. If it travels by 20 km/h slower then it takes 3 hours. Find the speed of the plane. Also find the distance between the two airports.

It is a Linear Equation sum.

Answer:

plane takes time to cover a distance = 2.75 hr

let the speed be = x km/h

the formula of the distance is d=s*t

ATQ,

the plane takes times to cover the distance =3 hr

and the speed slower down by 20 km/h

so new speed = x-20 km/h

now we have two equation now evaluate them,

⇒x ×2.75 = (x - 20)×3

⇒2.75 x  = 3x -60

⇒275x/100= 3x -60

⇒6000= 300x -275x

⇒6000÷25=x

⇒240

so distance will be 240-20*3

=660 km
