Plant cells are enclosed by a rigid cell wall. When the plant cell is placed in a hypotonic solution , it takes up water by osmosis and starts to swell, but the cell wall prevents it from bursting. The plant cell is said to have become "turgid for eg swollen and hard

If a plant cell is placed in a Hypertonic solution then due to osmosis the movement of liquid Will take place from its higher concentration to its lower concentration.
As in Hypertonic solution the concentration inside the cell is much lower than the concentration outside the cell.
So, the liquid will move inside the cell.
Due to which the cell will swell up.
