Hypertonic solutions are concentrated solutions...the process of osmosis occurs in which molecules move from lower to higher concentration.

If a plant is placed in a hypertonic solution for 30 mins, it will crumple and this happens because of this:
In a hypertonic solution where salt concentration is high than the water concentration the plant cell will lose water hence create turgor pressure due to plasmolysis.
Due to the plasmolysis the cell will shrink and the cell wall will separate from the cell membrane and shrink and eventually crumple.
