we know that force is equal to the rate of momentum.So, large force is required to bring large change in momentum.The mass of a cricket is greater than the plastice ball.So,momentum of the cricket ball is large as they have the same velocity.So to reduce the momentum to zero and to stop cricket ball, plastic ball have to travel larger distance and a larger force is required to stop the cricket ball.
