Thank you for asking this question.  A really easy but an interesting question to ask.
So basically the floating of a substance basically depends on the densities of the liquid and the object that wants to float. Plastic has lesser density than that of water. So a cube of plastic would float on water as long as the cube is not very very large.
I hope this answer can help you in some manner.

Before coming into any conclusion, first we have to understand the effect of density on sinking or floating of substance in water.

A substance will sink in water if the density of the substance is greater than the density of water.

A substance will float if its density is less as compared to the density of water.

As per the question, we have been given a plastic cube.

The density of plastic cube is not given. Normally the density of plastic is less as compared to the density of water. So, plastic floats on water. But,here, we have plastic cube.

The density of a substance is the mass per unit volume. Hence, the volume and mass will play a crucial role in determining the density .

If the volume of the cube is more as compared to mass numerically, then density of plastic will be less than water. So, plastic cube will float. Otherwise, the plastic cube will sink in water.
