A playground has the shape of a square with two semicircles on its ends, added to the outside. If the side of the square is 35 m, find the area of the playground.

Answer:

area of square= side X side

.°. area = 35 X 35

= 1225

next we have 2 semicircles at both end,

area of semicircle = π X r²/2

radius will be= 35/2 ( imagine the picture)

.°. area of semicircle= 22x35x35/ 2x2x7

= 1925/2

since we have 2 semicircle

area of two semicircle= 1925/2 x 2

= 1925

lastly, total area of playground= area of square+ area of both semicircle

= 1225+1925

3150 m²
