A pleasurable or positive emotional state resulting from the appraisal of one's job or job experience reflects job satisfaction. 

This definition of job satisfaction was introduced by Locke in 1976. In his definition he said that a person is satisfied with his/her work if he/she gets appraisal. This motivates the person which may eventually increase productivity.
