John donne the dream

dear love for nothing less than the would I have broke this happy dream it was a theme

for reason much too strong for fantasy therefore thou wak'd'st me wisely yet my dream thou wak'd'st not but continued it...

so begin this poem from the first great metaphysical poet . what if you were dreaming about some one only to be woken up by the very person you had been dreaming about ?

this scenario is the focus of this lesser know John Donne poem which as in a number of other John Donne poem see the poet trying to seduce the woman to coming to bed with him ( well there are already in bed but you know what we mean ) .
