Hi ,

It is given that point ( k , k ) lies on the line

3x + 4y + 7 = 0 ,

substitute ( k , k ) in given equation, we get

3k + 4k + 7 = 0

7k + 7 = 0

7k = -7

k = ( -7 )/7

k = -1

I hope this helps you.

Xander0102: hey a small change
Xander0102: what if the equation was 3x+ky+7
mysticd: 3k + k × k + 7 = 0
mysticd: k² + 3k + 7 = 0
mysticd: we get imaginary roots .
