Answer:

Given the point lie on Y-axis this shows that its x-coordinate is zero. Also , it is at a distance of 5 units in negative direction of Y-axis , so its y-coordinate is negative.

Answer:

1) The co-ordinate is (5, 0).

2) The co-ordinate is (0, -5)

Step-by-step explanation:

Concept:-

  • The co-ordinate of a point which lies on the positive x-axis is of the form (a,0) where a is any natural number.
  • The co-ordinate of a point which lies on the negative x-axis is of the form (-a,0) where a is any natural number.

Similarly,

  • The co-ordinate of a point which lies on the positive y-axis is of the form (0,a) where a is any natural number.
  • The co-ordinate of a point which lies on the negative y-axis is of the form (0,-a) where a is any natural number.

Step 1 of 2

It is given that a point in on the x- axis 5 units away from the y-axis on the right of the origin.

This means a point lies on the positive x- axis which is 5 units away from the origin.

Thus, the co-ordinate of a point is (5, 0).

Step 2 of 2

Since the point lies on y-axis at a distance of 5 units from the x-axis below the origin.

This means a point lies on the negative y-axis which is 5 units away from the origin.

Thus, the co-ordinate of a point is (0, -5).
