A point mass of mass 0.5 kg is thrown vertically upward from the ground with a speed of 12 m / s. Neglecting air resistance and taking g = 10 m/s2, determine the maximum height from the ground, the material point reaches.

1/2mv²=kinetic energy which is converted in potential energy=mgh as at top position whole k.e gets converted into p.e
if ke=1/2*5/10*12*12=36
so, p.e =mgh=0.5*10*h=k.e=36
h=7.2m
hope i helped you

we do not need mass for this.
u = 12 m/s      at the top most point  v = 0
 s = v^2 - u^2 = 2 g s  => s = 12 * 12 / 2 * 10 = 7.2 m
