A point object is placed at a distance of 12 cm from a convex lens on its principal
axis, Its image is formed on the other side of the lens at a distance of 18 cm from the
lens. Find the focal length of the lens. Is the image magnified? Justify your answer.

Answer:

Explanation

U= -12(for convex lens negative)

V= 18

So, 1/f=1/v-1/u (lens formula)

=1/18 - (-1/12)

5/36=1/f

So f=7.5

Now , magnification = v/u (with sign)

=18/-12

=-1.5

Thank u guys.

Wish these helped u
