a point P is 15cm from the centre of the circle . the radius of circle is 5 cm. find the length of a tangent drawn to the circle from point P​

Take centre as 'O'

Op=15cm, OR=5cm

Find :-

Length of tangent drawn to the circle from point P

Solution :-

From Pythagoras theorm

PR²=OR²+OP²

 {pr}^{2}  =  {5}^{2}  + {15}^{2}

pr =  \sqrt{ {5}^{2} +  {15}^{2}  }

pr =  \sqrt{25 + 225}

pr =  \sqrt{250}

 = 5 \sqrt{10}

The length of tangent drawn to circle is 5√10.
