I hope B(5,0)

Given :

The point P on x-axis equidistant from the points  A(-1,0) and B(5,0).

To find :

What is the point ?

Solution :

As the point is on x-axis the y-coordinate is zero i.e. P=(x,0)

Now, Point P is equidistant from A(-1,0) and B(5,0) so distance is same.

i.e. AP=PB

Applying distance formula, \sqrt{ (x_2-x_1)^{2}+ (y_2-y_1)^{2} }

x+1=5-x

2x=4

x=2

Therefore, the point is P=(2,0).
