Given : A point ( x + 2 , x + 4) lies in first quadrant of cartesian plane . Mirror image for x axis is (5 , - 7)

To find : the value of x

Solution:

Given point x + 2 , x + 4 lies in 1st Quadrant

Let say point is ( A , B) Where A & B are + ve as they lie in 1st Quadrant

A = x + 2

B = x + 4

Mirror image for x axis keep value of x axis same but for value of y sign get changes

=> mirror image point ( A , - B)

Mirror image = ( 5 , - 7)

=> A = 5 & B = 7

x + 2 = 5 => x = 3

or x + 4 = 7 => x = 3

Hence value of x = 7
