Polar bears are equipped with strong noses. They use their powerful sense of smell when hunting for seals, their main source of food. when these bear hibernates their strong sense of smell weakens and if they dint have a strong sense of smell after hibernation they wont be able to smell anything but due to strong sense of smell after hibernation it does weaken but they can still smell food which gives their strength back
