Answer:

Let AB be the pole. Pole lean against the wall at point A and rest on the ground at B.

AB=10 m ; ⎳ABC = 60°

Let the foot of wall be at C.

BC= Distance between foot of the pole and wall = x

Cos 60° = x/10

x = 10 cos 60° = 10/2 = 5

Ans: Foot of the pole is at a distance of 5m from the wall

A six-metre-long ladder leans against a building. If the ladder makes an angle of 60° with the ground, how far up the wall does the ladder reach? How far from the wall is the base of the ladder? Round your answers to two decimal places as needed

A ladder 2.5m long is placed against a wall. If its upper end reaches the height of 2m long the wall, what is the distance of the foot of the ladder from the wall?

A 30 feet ladder rests on a vertical wall and reaches an altitude of 22 feet. How far is the foot of the ladder from the wall?

The bottom of a 13-foot straight ladder is set into the ground 5 feet away from a wall. When the top of the ladder is leaned against the wall, what is the distance above the ground it will reach?

A ladder 12 meters long is leaning against the wall of a building. The bottom of the ladder is sliding away from the wall at the rate 1.5 m/s. How fast is the top of the ladder sliding down when it is 3 meters above the ground?

Solution

Distance from foot of pole to wall

=10×cos 60°

=10×0.50 = 5 Meter. Answer

tan60=y/x

y=√3x

10=√(x^2+y^2)

√(x^2+3x^2)=2x

x=5m

Coss60°=X/10

1/2=X/10

X=5m
