Question :-

  • A pole ab is 20m high and bc, its shadow on the ground. is 20root3m long find the sun's altitude.

Answer :-

  • Sun altitude = 30°

Given :-

  • Hight of a pole AB = 20m

  • Shadow on the ground of a pole =20  \sqrt{3}

To find :-

  • Find the sun's altitude = ?

Solution :-

AB = 20m

BC = 20  \sqrt{3}

Now angle ,

 \large  { \underline{ \overline {\boxed{ \sf \angle abc =  { \tan }^{ - 1}  \bigg( \frac{ab}{bc}  \bigg)}}}}

  \\   \large\sf \angle abc =  { \tan }^{ - 1}  \bigg( \frac{20}{20 \sqrt{3} }  \bigg) =  { \tan}^{ - 1}  \bigg( \frac{1}{ \sqrt{3}  }  \bigg)

 \large \sf {\boxed{ \angle abc =  \frac{ \pi}{6} }}

\therefore Sun altitude is 30°
