The actual height of the pole is 36km.

Given:

A pole broke and fell to the ground12 km top is at a distance of 12 km from its foot and the distance between the foot and the height at which the pope broke is 16km.

To Find:

The actual height of the pole.

Solution:

To find the actual height of the pole we will follow the following steps:

After breaking the pole it is at a distance of 12km from the base then, AC = 12 as shown in the above figure.

Similarly,

After breaking the distance between the foot and the height at which the pope broke is 16M. so, AB = 16 as shown in the above figure.

Now,

The actual height of the tree = AB + BC

So, we have to calculate the length of BC.

BC can be calculated by using Pythagoras' theorem.

According to Pythagoras' theorem:

(AB)

 {(AB)}^{2}  +  {(AC)}^{2}  =  {(BC)}^{2}

Now, putting values in the formula we get,

 {(12)}^{2}  +  {(16)}^{2}  = {(BC)}^{2}

144 + 256 = {(BC)}^{2}

{(BC)}^{2}  = 400

BC =  \sqrt{400}  = 20km

The actual height of the tree = AB + BC = 16 + 20 = 36km

Henceforth, the actual height of the pole is 36km.

Answer:

Actual height of pole = 36km

Step-by-step explanation:

Given:

Distance from top to ground on ground = 12km

Distance between foot and the height pope broke out = 16 km

To Find:

The actual height of the pole.

Solution:

To find the actual height  we will follow the following steps:

  • We took distance from top to ground on ground 12km  as, AC = 12 as shown in figure.

Similarly,

  • We took distance from foot to the height where broke 16km as, AB = 16 as shown in figure.

Now,

The actual height of the tree = AB + BC

So, we have to calculate the length of BC.

BC can be calculated by using Pythagoras' theorem.

According to Pythagoras' theorem:

(AB)^{2}  + (AC)^{2}  = (BC)^{2}

Now, By putting values we get,

(12)^{2}+(16)^{2} =(BC)^{2}

144 + 256 = (BC)^{2}

400 = (BC)^{2}

BC = \sqrt{400}

BC = 20 km

So, The actual height of the tree = AB + BC = 16 + 20 = 36km

Hence, the actual height of the pole is 36km.
