Draw a right angle triangle ABC, right angled at B.
Let AB be the pole of h meters, CB be the shadow on the ground of 20m.
At angle C put 60 degree.
 \tan(60) = \frac{ab}{cb} \\ \tan(60) = \frac{h}{20} \\ \sqrt{3} = \frac{h}{20} (value \: of \: \tan(60) = \sqrt{3} ) \\ h = 20 \sqrt{3} \\ h = 20 \times 1.73 \: \: ( \sqrt{3} = 1.73) \\ h = 34.6
