perpendicular = 50m Distance of the ship from pole = Base tan30° = perpendicular / base
1 \div  \sqrt{3}  = 50 \div base

base  = 50 \sqrt{3}

Given:

A pole of light is 50m high from which the angle of depression of a ship is 30.

To Find:

Find the distance of the ship from the pole

Step-by-step explanation:

  • Here this type of Question can be solved by using the concept of Height and Distance .
  • In this type of question we solve this by making a triangle and then using the trigonometry to solve the required.
  • Here the length of pole is given as 50\ m and the angle of depression is given as 30°. This will form a right angled triangled with the perpendicular as 50\ m and the base is the required distance we have to find.
  • The angle of the triangle is the angle of depression.
  • tan(30)= 50\div x\\x=50\times \sqrt{3}

This is the final answer 50\times \sqrt{3}
