Given
Starting Distance between policemen and thief =125m
Speed of policemen =1km in 8 min
Speed of thief =1km in 10min
So policemen speed in one min=1/8 km/min
Changing it in meter/s
1km/min =1000/60 m/s
So 1/8 km /min=1000/60x8
=100/48 m/s
Similarly speed of thief =(1/10) x 1000/60
=1000/600
=10/6 m/s
Now if policemen covers the extra distance difference then thief
D=125
Now policemen and thief are moving in same direction then speed
S=10/6-100/48
S=(100-80)/48
S=48x20
S=96m/s
Time =d/s
Time=125/96
Time=1.30m/s
Distance coverd by thief in this time
=125+10/6 x1. 30
=127. 1667m
The distance covered by thief before caught. =127.1667m
