Assuming we are on earth or someplace where acceleration due to gravity is 9.8 m/s^2, the time to fall the distance, S, can be found by rearranging S= (1/2) a*t^2

sqrt(2S / a) = t = sqrt(2*0.6 / 9.8) = 0.35 s time to fall.

d = v*t = 2.4*0.35 = 0.84 m horizontal distance to ball hitting the ground.
