Question :-

A porter lifts a luggage of 15 kg from the ground and puts it on his head 1.5 m above the ground. Calculate the work done by him on the luggage.

Answer :-

Given -

  • mass of the luggage , m = 15 kg

  • displacement , s = 1.5

  • acclⁿ due to gravity , g = 10 m/s²

To Find -

work done on the luggage

Process -

Force applied ,

F = m × g

= 15 kg × 10 m/s²

= 150 N

_______________

Thus,

Work done ,

W = F × s

= 150 N × 1.5 m

= 225 Nm

= 225 Joules

________________

Hence, the work done on the luggage is 22.5a J (where a is the acceleration given).

Answer:-

The work done by the Porter on the luggage \large\leadsto\boxed{\tt\purple{225 \: J}}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Given:-

  • Weight lifted by the Porter from the ground = 15 kg

  • Height of the luggage after placing it on the head = 1.5 m

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

To Find:-

  • The work done by the Porter on the luggage.

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Solution:-

We know,

For work done,

\pink{\bigstar} \large\underline{\boxed{\bf\blue{W = mgh}}}

where,

  • W = Work done

  • m = mass of the body

  • g = acceleration due to gravity [10 ms-²]

  • h = height of the body

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Substituting in the Formula:-

\sf W = 15 \times 10 \times 1.5

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

\sf W = 150 \times 1.5

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

\bf W = 225

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Unit of Work is Joules [J] .

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Hence,

\large\underline{\underline{\bf\red{W = 225 \: J}}}

⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀

Therefore, the work done by the Porter on the luggage is 225 J.
