Here is the answer of your problem,

When a current carrying conductor placed in a magnetic field it experiences a magnetic force. The magnetic force is maximum when the direction of current is perpendicular to the direction of the magnetic field. And if the direction of the current is parallel to the direction of the magnetic field then the conductor will not experience any magnetic force.

In the present problem; the direction of the current is upwards i.e. towards north and the direction of the magnetic force is also towards north hence they are parallel so the conductor will not experience any force.
