let the larger no be x and the smaller no be y

x = 3y -( i)

and, x+2 and y+5

x+2 = 2(y+5) as it becomes double

x+2 = 2y +10

x-2y = 8 - (ii)

x-3y =0

x-2y =8

- - -

-y = -8

y = 8

x = 3y ( proved)

x = 3(8)

x = 24
