Let the positive number be x. And the other number be 5x.

Then, according to the question

When 21 is added to both the numbers;

x +21 = 5x + 21

Now, after adding 21 then one number becomes twice the other number so,

2(x+21) = 5x + 21

2x + 42 = 5x + 21

2x - 5x = 21 - 42

-3x = - 21

x = 7 __________Equation 1

From equation 1 we get,

x = 7

So, another number 5x = 5×7 = 35

Therefore, the original numbers are 7 and 35.
