Given :-

• A positive number is 5 times another number.

• After adding 21 to both numbers, one of the new number becomes twice the other new number.

To Find :-

What are the numbers?

Solution :-

Let the positive number be x.

As per question :-

Another number which is 5 times of it = 5x

After adding 21 :-

1st number will be = x +21

and 2nd number will be = 5x + 21

According to the question :-

2nd number = 2 × 1 st number

⟼ 5x +21 = 2 ( x + 21)

⟼ 5 x + 21 = 2x + 42

⟼ 3x = 21

⟼ x = 21/3

⟼x \: = 7

Hence, the 1st number is = 7

2nd number is = 5x = 35

Therefore, required numbers are 7 and 35.
