Answer :

  • Numbers are 7 and 35

Given :

  • A positive number is 5 times another number
  • 21 is added to both the numbers
  • One of the new numbers become twice the other new number

To find :

  • Numbers

Solution :

  • Let the other number be x

A positive number is 5 times another number ,

  • Let the positive number be 5x

Given , 21 is added to both the numbers then we have to add that numbers we get,

  • x + 21
  • 5x + 21

According to question, one of the new numbers become twice the other new number then,

》5x + 21 = 2(x + 21)

》5x + 21 = 2x + 42

》5x - 2x + 21 = 42

》3x + 21 = 42

》3x = 42 - 21

》3x = 21

》x = 21/3

》x = 7

Hence,

  • x = 7
  • 5x = 5(7) = 35

Hence, Numbers are 7 and 35
